It seems that a few people are having this problem and there has been no clear answer or solution to the problem. I have upgraded a Windows Vista Ultimate system to Windows 7 Ultimate (Build 7100) using the ISO from my Technet Plus subscription. When I enter the product key that I got from my Technet subscription in order to activate the install (from evaluation copy to a regular copy), I get the following error: 'The product key you entered does not appear to be a valid Windows 7 product key' I have tried two different keys with no success. I have tried using the command 'slmgr.vbs /ipk product-key' but this also does not work. I receive the following error: Error: 0xC004F050 The software licensing service reported that the product key is invalid. Any thoughts on what the problem is? Are you trting to use an RTM Build 7600 key on the RC Build 7100 Release Candidate version?
Thank You for using Windows 7. Microsoft Windows Version 6.1.7100Copyright (c) 2009 Microsoft Corporation.
All rights reserved.-snip-.Version 6.1.7100 is the Release Candidate, not the RTM build. RTM is most definitely available via Technet, and has been available for some weeks now.The iso file name you provided above is the correct iso for RTM Windows 7 Ultimate x86, but it's quite obvious that you have ended up installing from the RC iso rather than from the RTM iso.I'd suggest try burning an install disk again, from that iso file and on a different machine. As I see it there are two likely scenarios which would result in your outcome:You actually burned the wrong image by mistake. The burning software or feature on the PC you were burning with has become corrupt, and is burning a previously selected image rather than the one you later selected. Seems you must be saying that one can download something other than 'A 'genuine' edition of Windows 7 RTM' from the TechNet Plus site. It might interest you that via a long series of redirected phone calls, a Microsoft support engineer confirmed that I have a valid (TechNet Plus) product key and that the install disk ( enwindows7ultimatex86dvdx15-65921.iso) produced successful (i.e.
'genuine') Win7 Ultimate clients in my lab before and after it was used on this problem-child Toshiba machine. In fact the client I refer to here is the only exception in a dozen or so functional builds using TechNet Plus downloads, including file servers, domain controllers, SQL and Exchange servers and various clients. As smham2 stated, a number of folks have complained about the same issue.
They might not have mentioned it, but I bet some of those incidents involved the 'evaluation copy' imprint on the desktop.I jumped into this discussion to confirm smham2's statement that others have had their good-faith efforts met with this frustration. So as long as I'm here, let me also mention that the problem is on a Toshiba laptop where I did an in-place Vista Home Basic to Win 7 Ultimate. The same operation worked fine on Dell and Lenovo laptop clients. So if we could please assume I probably got my ISO image from TechNet Plus, are there any constructive suggestions out there?TIA!Renault R17. You want us to assume that an RTM (build 7600) install image downloaded from Technet can somehow, magically on particular machines, deploy a build 7100 RC install instead of the final build 7600 RTM install?Sorry, but that seems too fanciful for me. There must necessarily a different explanation.smham has reported upgrading to a build 7100 installation. That's RC, not RTM. The RTM keys issued to a technet subscriber won't relate to that install, and won't allow it to be activated.
An RC key would need to be assigned instead. Preston Carter has also clearly indicated that a build 7100 RC install has been deployed. The Release Candidate image was also made available via Technet. People do make mistakes.
Often they won't accept that they've made a mistake. But magic ain't real!Press Winkey+RType winver and press ENTERIf the box reports (Build 7600) then an RTM disk was used to install. If the box reports (Build 7100) then an RC disk was used to install. Psd menu templates encore movies.
I was using the RC version of Windows 7 32-bit and everything worked out beautifully, i got a WIndows RTM Build 7600 64-bit and it's really fast for my system because i have 6gig of ram. Unfortunately i don't have any internet connection on it!!! (sigh.)anyways, on device manager, there is an unknown device which the computer doesn't usually do, it's kinda weird because this doesn't usually happen, so i switched over to the RC version back just to get my friggin internet connection back.
Any HELP or updatesyou can give me guys why i cannot connect to the internet with my RTM version of windows 7 64-bit?? BTW, It's always a 169 ip address so it's really a driver issue!

And it workson windows 7. I don't have windows Vista. I have only windows 7 ultimate from some one.I thank you very much,Regards,Raja [email protected]@[email protected]. For those that want to activate offline, follow the steps above but instaed of clicking on Activate Online Now, there should be another button that says 'Show me other ways to activate windows' if you click that, it gives an option to activate by phone. It will give you a number and an installation ID. You need to call the number and it's all automated, so you basically talk to a machine, but it's very straight forward.
It is somewhat time consuming 5-10 min depending on if you mess up, but it will get your activation going. After you say your installation id, they automated system will give you a activation key and you will need to put it in. Once it's all done, click next, and Voila! You're all done.
Windows 7 has become so cheap. Why not go legal. You get so much more to run legal software.
